Character Actors: Movie Posters for The Hobbit, On the Road, and Les Miserables

Between now and Christmas, movie-goers might think they've wandered into a library thanks to all the literary classics which are due to hit screens.  The Hobbit, On the Road, and Les Miserables are just a few of the book-to-Hollywood adaptations we'll be seeing (also watch for The Life of Pi, Lincoln, The Silver Linings Playbook, and Anna Karenina--among others I might have missed.  Baz Luhrmann's production of The Great Gatsby was deemed unfit for holiday consumption and moved to the action-hero season of summer).  I'm looking forward to seeing each of them when they eventually make their way to Butte.  To whet your anticipation, here's a gallery of posters.

The Hobbit is stuffed full of characters and so marketers decided to give each of them their own poster:

Martin Freeman as Bilbo

Ian McKellen as Gandalf

Cate Blanchett as Galadriel

Ken Stott as Balin

William Kircher as Bifur

James Nesbitt as Bofur

Stephen Hunter as Bombur

Graham McTavish as Dwalin

Dean O'Gorman as Fili

Peter Hambleton as Gloin

Aidan Turner as Kili

Jed Brophy as Nori

John Callen as Oin

Adam Brown as Ori

Richard Armitage as Thorin

And my favorite character (at least in the movies):

Andy Serkis as Gollum

The posters for On the Road take an identical tack by devoting themselves to one character at a time and adding pithy quotes ("I love love," etc.):

Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty

Sam Riley as Sal Paradise

Kristen Stewart as Marylou

Tom Sturridge as Carlo Marx

Alice Braga as Terry

Kirsten Dunst as Camille

Danny Morgan as Ed Dunkel

Vigggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee

At least Les Miserables saves paper by giving us two characters per poster (somewhere in Oregon, a tree is breathing a sigh of relief):

Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier and
Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier

Amanda Seyfried as Cosette and
Eddie Redmayne as Marius
